4 Times Karl Lagerfeld Was Very Fashion

Karl Lagerfeld is an iconic designer, serving as Creative Director for Chanel, Fendi, as well as his eponymous label. We’re taking a break from New York Fashion Week to celebrate the designer’s 84th birthday and reminiscing on 4 times the German-born designer was very #Fashion.

1. Lagerfeld attributes his weightloss, over 90 pounds shredded, to his desire to wear a particular designer.

"I suddenly wanted to dress differently, to wear clothes designed by Hedi Slimane,

but these fashions, modeled by very, very slim boys - and not men my age - required me to lose at least 40kg."

Side Bar: Remember that TV show the New Normal, when the character Bryan hopes his baby will be undersized so the child can fit into Marc Jacobs clothes? Yikes.

2. When he was four, he asked his mother for a valet.

3. “Never use the word 'cheap'. Today everybody can look chic in inexpensive clothes (the rich buy them too). There is good clothing design on every level today. You can be the chicest thing in the world in a T-shirt and jeans — it’s up to you.”.

4. While disapproving the use of the word cheap, Lagerfeld concurrently condemns sweatpants.

"Jogging pants are a sign of defeat. You've lost control of your life, so you go out in jogging pants."

But come on Karl, we live in a post-normcore, athleisure-loving society now, surely these views have evolved?

What about these chic sweatpants - do you think Monsieur Lagerfeld would approve:
