Ever since Facebook changed its name to Meta it feels as though this virtual world concept has rapidly moved to top of mind on in the digital zeitgeist. Now, Adidas has announced its new foray in to the space. Alongside NFT big names Bored Ape Yacht Club, Punks Comic, and Gmoney, Adidas is making its presence in the Metaverse known, with a Bored Ape sporting a classic tracksuit featuring the Adidas Trefoil juxtaposed with the logos of the brand's three partners.

". . . Adidas, known for celebrating ideas at the bleeding edge of originality, is settling in at the frontier of creativity: The Metaverse. Our goal there? To see every one of its inhabitants thrive. The Metaverse is where anyone can express their most original ideas and be their most authentic selves, in whatever form they might take. And thanks to the blockchain [and NFTs], those pioneers can own a piece of what they create", said a statement from Adidas.

This news from Adidas comes on the heels of Nike filing a trademark for "Nike" and its iconic slogan "Just Do It" as well as for the "Jordan" brand name and the Air Jordan and Jumpman logos, according to applications filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office. With NFT sales forecasted to reach $18 billion by the end of 2021, and luxury brands like Balenciaga expected to make their own foray, NFTs are an area to watch in the crypto space as exciting projects continue to take shape.
